The eggs are one of the biggest draws for many Peninsula residents who have brought chicken farming from the country to the suburbs in an effort to 'eat local.' But backyard chicken enthusiasts say there are plenty of other reasons for tending your own flock including gaining the entertainment of a new pet and teaching children about where their food comes from.
